EpiK PROTOCOL: HUMAN KNOWLEDGE
GRAPH, REIMAGINED. PART1
In present era, AI is capable of recognizing but not understanding. When a child sees an image of a “dog,” they are able to identify it. Nevertheless, AI is dependent on the huge data it is fed with, including pattern recognition before it can properly identify a “dog.” Computational intelligence, perceptual intelligence, cognitive intelligence, and conscious intelligence are the 4 key steps of AI development. That being said, let’s talk about it………
THE 4 KEY STEPS OF AI DEVELOPMENT
As listed above, they are explained as follows:
•Computational intelligence enables machines to preserve and compute data;
•Perceptual intelligence enables machines to listen, speak, see, and recognize objects;
•Cognitive intelligence enables machines to understand and interpret information; and
•Conscious intelligence helps machines to self-learn and recall.
Up till this present time, AI’s perceptual intelligence has made great progress, allowing face and speech recognition systems to permeate our daily lives via our mobile devices.
The next phase is an advance into AI’s cognitive intelligence, which will allow it to grasp and interpret data, and a large amount of structured knowledge will be required to do so. Instead of humans being able to understand unintelligible text, photos, and videos, robots want knowledge to be organized in a well-defined structure. In order to accomplish this, Google suggested the knowledge graph technology in 2012, which represents human knowledge using organized entities, concepts, relationships, and other aspects. This enables machines to comprehend and explain facts.
A KG is remarkably identical to the bionic system of the human brain neuron system, in which the connections between neurons are analogous to the connections between nodes in a knowledge graph, where the denser the link, the smarter the system is. Nevertheless, there are numerous obstacles to establishing a large-scale, high-quality KG:
BARRIERS TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF LARGE-SCALE, HIGH-QUALITY KG
• For starters, documenting human knowledge across broad disciplines is not a job that an institution, a corporation, or even a nation can perform on its own.
• Next, the task of creating a high-quality knowledge graph, from (a) knowledge extraction to (b) knowledge fusion to knowledge processing to (d) updating existing knowledge graphs, is one that requires an intense labor and consumes a lot of time.
• Finally, the enormous expenses of building a KG creates a significant barrier to enter into this market.
Numerous firms are not able to design their own KG for their objectives and must rely on third-party KG to develop cognitive abilities, putting themselves at danger of maliciously modified data, which will ultimately impact their AI. In an ideal world, an irreversible, decentralized KG that encourages global collaboration through fair rewards will accelerate AI’s transition from perceptual to cognitive intelligence.
WHAT ACTUALLY, IS THE EpiK PROTOCOL?
EpiK Protocol is a decentralized trusted knowledge graph collaboration platform of the People, by the People, for the People. EpiK Protocol aims to create a decentralized KG with trustable storage, incentives, governance, and financial capabilities using blockchain technology.
This creates a trusted, multi-party collaboration platform where all trusted contributors are rewarded fairly while irreversibly preserving human knowledge at an affordable rate, broadening the horizons of today’s AI and ushering in a new era of AI.
STORAGE YOU CAN TRUST…
To accomplish trusted storage, EpiK Protocol used Filecoin’s decentralized storage technology. Filecoin is based on the IPFS protocol, which is a peer-to-peer network for storing and exchanging data in a distributed system. The protocol unifies the file systems of the scattered devices and processes all files into a Merkle Trie structure, resulting in a unique Root Hash. This avoids duplicate data blocks from being stored, and the nodes only need to synchronize with Root Hash for consistency.
IPFS, on the other hand, is missing an incentive mechanism as well as an anti-fraud mechanism. To improve on IPFS, Filecoin
(1) creates Proof-of-Storage to incentivize its ecosystem, and
(2) couples Zero-Knowledge Proof to create Proof-of-Replication (PoRep) and Proof-of-Spacetime (PoSt) to avoid frauds.
Even more so than traditional distributed databases like Hadoop, Filecoin enables international parties to self-organize their idle machines into a uniform global storage system without having to trust one another. Under the terms of the agreement, all parties are entitled to store and access data without requiring permission.
Filecoin defines a decentralized storage framework in the same way that Ethereum defines a decentralized computation framework. Filecoin’s Layer 1 network focuses on big file storage under severely low throughput as a universal storage framework that will confront diverse storage application scenarios.
Rather than huge file storage, the EpiK Protocol’s KG collaboration network will save most files as compact bin-log files for efficient and reliable collaboration. EpiK protocol uses Filecoin core technology to design a Filecoin Layer 2 storage network for KG collaboration network and gather KG data on Layer 2 through various incentives in order to achieve smooth integration between both platforms. The KG data will then be constantly combined into big snapshot files and permanently saved within the Filecoin network.
The EpiK Protocol Layer 2 network maintains the trust of the Filecoin Layer 1 network while concentrating on mutual cooperation to construct KG data from multiple domains, which are saved in EpiK Protocol network as bin-log files. Anybody can obtain the bin-log files and run them locally to restore a graph database without the consent of a centralized institution. Users can also earn prizes by uploading a database snapshot to the Filecoin network.
INCENTIVES YOU CAN TRUST TOO…..
The EpiK Protocol’s Token Economy offers a secure incentive paradigm for its ecosystem. Tokenization uses blockchain technology to establish a new means to move value:
(1) tokens may be spent, transferred, and swapped, and
(2) transactions are visible and immutable.
Tokenization is a programmable asset that can be used as a low-cost value transfer, without relying on third-party verification. EpiK’s Token Economy is built on the circulation of EPK, EpiK Protocol’s native token. EpiK Protocol provides a collaborative relationship for the key players of the KG network to collectively develop a knowledge graph while pursuing their particular interests.
Domain Experts, Bounty Hunters, Knowledge Nodes, and Knowledge Gateways are the major players in EpiK Protocol ecosystems. Domain Experts (DEs) are primarily responsible for organizing and inspecting data in the KGs.
They also have the authority to add knowledge graph data, but only under rigorous supervision. Contributing high-quality knowledge graph data benefits Domain Experts. Parties interested in becoming DEs must be nominated by current DEs. These parties must win the support of the EpiK Protocol community by obtaining votes, with each vote equating to the lockup of one EPK Token. With a threshold in place, DEs who have more votes than the threshold will keep their jobs, while those who don’t have enough votes will be disqualified as DEs.
In the next discussion, we shall continue with trusted incentives and proceed to how trustworthy the governance of EpiK Protocol can be. In the mean time, click below for updates on the EpiK Protocol:
